Bad news for Marriott CEO: cancer!
Bethesda, Maryland, May 3, 2019 – Bad diagnosis for Arne Sorenson: The 60-year-old CEO of the world’s largest hotel chain Marriott Int. has pancreatic cancer. This was announced today. The so-called stage 2 is an early stage in which cancer has not spread further. Sorenson is confident that he will recover completely. The necessary chemotherapy is scheduled to start next week. Sorenson wants to continue his duties as Marriott Int.’s top executive.
Sorenson: “The cancer was discovered early. It does not appear to have spread and the medical team – and I – are confident that we can realistically aim for a complete cure. In the meantime, I intend to continue working at the company I love. Let me make one request, look ahead with me. We have great work underway at Marriott. I am as excited by what we can accomplish together as I have ever been.”
We wish him and his relatives much strength and all imaginable blessings for a quick recovery!
