Capella Marigot Bay, Saint Lucia names Jason Kycek, Director of Sales and Marketing

Jason Kycek has been appointed Director of Sales and Marketing for Capella Marigot Bay, Saint Lucia formerly known as Discovery at Marigot Bay. Capella Hotels and Resorts which manages ultra-luxury hotels such as Capella Singapore and Capella Pedregal in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, assumed management of the resort after it was acquired by an international development group in August 2013. Capella has already started to introduce its award-winning service philosophy at the resort, which has been rebranded as Capella Marigot Bay, Saint Lucia and Kycek’s immediate focus will be to position the resort as one of the most desirable luxury resorts in the Caribbean as well as developing creative and exciting guest experiences for years to come.

“Jason has a wealth of experience operating in the Caribbean market and he is the right person to lead sales and marketing efforts for Capella Marigot Bay and educating travelers on Capella’s award-winning ultra-luxury amenities and special guest services,” said Horst Schulze, CEO and Chairman, Capella Hotels and Resorts. “Jason will also look to introduce new guest experiences ideal for the bridal, honeymoon, family and yachting segments to his broad base of contacts and establishing partnerships with noted luxury brands and companies.”

Prior to joining Capella Marigot Bay, Kycek was the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the Villa del Palmar Hotels and Resorts group in Cancun, Mexico. He was personally recruited by the ownership behind Villa del Palmar and was instrumental in developing the sales and marketing hotel division of the company to support their aggressive expansion plans throughout the Mexican and Caribbean markets.

Before joining Villa del Palmar, Kycek was the Corporate Director of Travel Industry Sales and Marketing for KSL Resorts. At KSL, Kycek was responsible for seven award-winning resorts, and helped generate record-breaking revenues and developing partnerships with luxury brands. Before he was appointed to the corporate office for KSL, Kycek served as Director of Travel Industry Sales for the Doral Resort (also a KSL managed property) where he stood-out as one of their key employees, thereby earning him a starring role in the corporate department.

Kycek’s experience in the Caribbean and Mexican markets doesn’t just stop there as he also served as Occidental Hotels and Resorts’ Vice President of Sales from 2011 to 2013. At Occidental, he led the rebuilding of the sales, marketing and revenue management divisions for the company’s U.S. corporate office. He also oversaw Occidental Hotels & Resorts Collection of hotels which included The Royal Hideaway, Grand Xcaret, Grand Aruba, and the Grand Punta Cana & El Embajador.

Kycek cut his teeth in the Caribbean as the Regional Sales Manager for Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic where he was responsible for managing the luxury leisure retail, charter and wholesale markets throughout the eastern and south eastern regions of the U.S.

Kycek holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and resides in Florida.
